Welcome, Intro, and Disclaimers
I decided to start this blog because so many people ask: I’m interested in digital scrapbooking, WHERE DO I START?
I like definitive, solid answers. I don’t want people to HAVE to buy a book, a tutorial CD, or a website membership to jump in. I want some starting info to be out there, FOR FREE, for those who are curious about digital scrapbooking and want to learn how to start. I have a huge compilation of resources — everything you will need to know about digi-scrapping. I know it’s a lot of information, but be patient and take your time to look around – you’ll figure it all out!
I will focus on Paint Shop Pro in this blog, because it’s what I have and what I use. It’s a very universal program and I think is most widely used. (I have Paint Shop Pro 8, 10, and X2) but I don’t do anything complicated in it, so people with Adobe Photoshop or whatever should be ok.) In Paint Shop there’s are about 3 (or 10) ways to do any one task. Different people have different preferences for steps to take, and most of what I’ve figured out is by playing around and experimenting (asking “what if I did this?” and seeing where that takes me.) I’m not a Paint Shop expert by ANY means, but I want to share the joy of digi-scrappin’ and what I’ve learned so far.
WHERE IS IT?
Free stuff? Check out the sidebar and also watch my blog and newsletter.
Where do I sign up for a class? – There is a list of all classes here.
As a subscriber, you can work through the lessons as a lurker, but we encourage you to join a class so that we can follow your progress and award you with sprite points. In a crazy way, it is motivating.
How do I subscribe? First you must register for the site. Be sure to click on the link in the confirmation e-mail after registering. Then read this page.
Help! Of course, we invite you to ask questions in the welcome area of the forum.
How does it work? Once signed up for a class, you will be placed in a credit thread group where you can watch us follow your progress to earn sprite points by your name. Just follow the online guide, do the lesson, upload your image to the gallery, link your image from the gallery back to the thread where the video is located, and wait for us to see it and comment in the gallery. (Of course, we encourage you to comment on others lesson submissions in the gallery to and work to develop a community of people encouraging each other.)
